Vi TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCES SPECTRO – The Latest in High Resolution Color AOI at the IPC APEX EXPO
Post on Monday 20 February 2012

Saint-Egreve, France—Vi TECHNOLOGY announced today the Americas debut of SPECTRO, its high resolution/high speed AOI solution for the most demanding of circuit board inspection requirements. “This exciting new camera technology will be featured on our new 2K SPECTRO AOI system in Booth 2749 at the IPC APEX EXPO in San Diego, February 28th through March 1st,” said Jean-Marc Peallat, VIT President & CEO Americas.

“Introduction on our 2K platform follows the successful November 2011 launch of our 5K SPECTRO AOI at Productronica in Munich, and signifies Vi TECHNOLOGY’s continuing effort to develop its K Series AOI platforms using the latest available technology from our research and development team in France,” he added.

SPECTRO once again places Vi TECHNOLOGY at the forefront of AOI capability,” Peallat said.. Faster inspection speeds, true high resolution color and minimal false calls are just a few of the many benefits when using a 2K or 5K SPECTRO AOI. And at the system’s review station, operators find defect classification to be much easier when using the SPECTRO’s enhanced image quality.

With its 12-bit color camera, SPECTRO collects 8X more information than conventional 8-bit systems. SPECTRO’s combined GPU and Core i7 PC, a powerful optical processing system, delivers unsurpassed image quality while utilizing Vi TECHNOLOGY’s industry-proven detection algorithms.

SPECTRO AOI systems also incorporate a new, high-intensity, programmable Broadband Lighting System which improves the image signal to noise ratio, further enhancing defect detection resolution.

SPECTRO is not just another color camera in the AOI world that combines state-of-the art lighting, powerful hardware and unique algorithm based capabilities. SPECTRO brings AOI to a new, unprecedented level where its quality images reveal more stable and reliable information about the SMT process” Peallat said. “It is a major step toward further differentiation of our algorithm based AOI systems from image based ones.”

SPECTRO soon will be available on all new Vi TECHNOLOGY AOI platforms. Please consult your local sales representative or distributor for more information.
