Closed Loop control

In a Closed Loop configuration, the goal for the AOI system is to detect errors and/or defects. It also goes one step further by feeding this information back to the Pick&Place machines to enable the correction of defects before they occur. This concept is designed to achieve a zero-defect line

By inspecting the X, Y and Theta positioning of all components, with a mean error accuracy of ±10 micron, Vi TECHNOLOGY ® Closed Loop software with embedded SPC is able to measure the exact location of each component and to compare it with the theoretical position in the CAD file.

The software can also measure all offsets and detect trends in real time using an embedded SPC trend analysis tool. Trends or position deviations over-time are fed back to the placement machine, allowing real-time offset correction before it results in misplaced components. The line is able to correct itself in real time and to stop using certain heads, feeders or nozzles if the appropriate correction cannot be made. 
 
Vi TECHNOLOGY has collaborated with major stencil printer and placement machine suppliers to develop software that enables communication between machines throughout the line.
